How To Handle The Completion Of Work

At completion, inspect the work with your builder and compile a list in a duplicate book of any points that you are not satisfied with. Agree a date for completion, insert this into your list and give the top copy to the builder. You could and even hold back a reasonable sum pending completion.

The completion should include removal of all materials/rubbish builders often leave some behind!

Where required, ask for final certificates of inspection from the building inspector.

Dealing With Disputes

If a dispute does arise do not become involved in any heated exchange; stay calm or walk away. Put your concerns in writing and seek professional advice if necessary. A polite letter of concern to the managing director/proprietor may be the best line if the matter cannot be resolved at the first line of contact. Alternatively, contact the builder's trade association  if the matter does not appear immediately or soon after completion.

Please notify and involve us in any matter you are not happy with.
